It's hard to believe it, but we're officially halfway through the year. As 2019 reaches its midpoint, we figured it was about time that we take a minute to look back at what the year in replica watches has looked like so far. All the major trade shows are behind us, all the major brands and groups have dropped their biggest releases, and there has been enough time for collectors and enthusiasts to have myriad reactions to the latest crop of watches.
We were able to get senior editor Jon Bues, editor-in-chief Jack Forster, and senior writer James Stacey in the studio to go over this all point by point. We get into everyone's favorite watches, the pieces they were hoping to see but haven't yet, the biggest surprises from the year's first six months, and the trends that are dominating the current fake watch landscape. We also asked everyone to offer up their hottest take on the fake watch world right now and we got some pretty great responses. Whether you've been following every single introduction since January 1st or are looking to catch up on six months of fake watch drops in an hour, you're going to like this one, I promise.
We hope you enjoy Episode 48 of HODINKEE Radio. Check out the show notes below and let us know what you think in the comments.
ADVERTISEMENT Wrist CheckFour editors means four watches. And, to be honest, it would be tough to put together a quartet of timepieces here at HODINKEE HQ that would be more intriguing than these four. First up we've got Jack rocking the new Cartier Santos-Dumont in stainless steel. Yes, that's a quartz Cartier we're talking about. On Jon's wrist is an Omega Speedmaster MK40, which is a pretty special fake watch around these parts. It inspired the creation of this tribute piece, not to mention the existence of this site in the first place. Next up is James, who rolled in wearing a super cool vintage Buren that satisfies his current love of all things "gold and old" ?plus it's got a cool running minutes counter for timing basic events. Finally, I was wearing my usual standby, my Replica Rolex Explorer 1016 with a gilt dial and a stretch Oyster bracelet. With temperatures hitting the 90s on the day we recorded, you can bet I was going to be wearing something on a bracelet.
